After many years, journalist and writer Nuri returns to the provincial town where he was born and grew up. His aim is to sell a garden he inherited from his father and return to Istanbul. In the city, he meets his old friend Sabri. He is an ordinary civil servant who has been working in a government office for years. Sabri greets the author somewhat coolly and hesitantly.

What nobody knows: Sabri has an unknown psychological trauma. One day, he kills his boss with a heavy object that he suddenly grabs. His colleagues in the shared office are horrified. Nuri visits Sabri in prison. During the conversation in prison, Sabri insists: “I killed a mouse.”
