What is life like when you come to Germany as 1,000,001 guest workers? “Almanya – Welcome to Germany” tells the story of Hüseyin Yilmaz and his family, who left their home country of Turkey in the mid-1960s to support the German economic miracle as guest workers, with a great deal of humor and empathy.

The very personal film is partly based on the filmmakers’ own experiences, which allow the viewer to participate in an entertaining way in a world between Orient and Occident, in a great cross-cultural and cross-generational family story.
