A brilliant comedy in which the director once again succeeds in bringing to light the inevitable and unforeseen conflicts within human relationships.

And this despite the many attempts to save the face of a bourgeois family through secrecy. The conservative, successful entrepreneur of a pasta factory in Apulia, Vincenzo, father of Tommaso and Antonio, has already planned his sons’ future. However, Tommaso, who is supposed to be studying business administration in Rome in order to continue running the company, is only interested in literature and wants to become a writer.

His older brother Antonio, who already works in the family business, struggles to confess his homosexuality to the family. When he finally comes out, his father suffers a heart attack. This in turn prevents Tommaso from coming out too. Despite the tragic, muddled situation, the actors manage to lighten up the story with numerous humorous scenes. The so-called honourable society is full of contradictions, in which the oldest generation, represented by the grandmother, ultimately proves to be the most open and modern.
